Program Highlights

As a student in this program, you will develop skills in report writing, finger-printing, and crime scene documentation. You will gain well-rounded knowledge in the areas of law enforcement, forensic science, corporate security, criminal investigation, and corrections, including probation, parole, and imprisonment. Through in-class discussions and off-site learning opportunities, you will:

  • Examine the structure of the American criminal justice system and branches of government, their functions and how they interrelate with juvenile and adult proceedings
  • Analyze and apply the U.S. Constitution to contemporary issues in criminal justice
  • Assess theories relating to the causation of crime and criminal activity and identify the categories of crimes, penalties and their defenses
  • Demonstrate an understanding of ethical and professional responsibility
  • Develop and demonstrate effective communication on a college level to write and articulate criminal justice principles in the field

Though not required, we encourage and aid you in your search for internships that will grant you hands-on access to work in the field. Our students have found opportunities with the FBI, local and municipal police departments, forensic labs, courthouses, and nonprofits that serve as diversionary programs through court support services.

At Post University, we understand you have responsibilities you can’t put on hold while you attend school - and you don’t have to. We offer 100 percent online courses to fit your schedule, or you can take classes at our Waterbury, Connecticut.

Unlike other online criminal justice schools, though you will study in an interactive environment, you will never be alone. As soon as you enroll, you will receive one-on-one support from our experienced faculty and a dedicated academic advisor. They can answer your questions and help you tailor your degree to your career goals with one of our unique concentrations in growing areas of the criminal justice field.
